5 days Safari Itinerary: Nairobi, Nakuru, Masai Mara
Day 01: Nairobi – Karibu to the Green City in the sun, warm weather and good-natured people too
Upon landing at the JKIA, you will be met by our tour representative, who will gladly welcome you and give you a tour briefing of your safari. Nairobi otherwise known as the “Green city in the sun” lives up to its name. Expect some warm weather and warm natured people too.
You will be transferred to a city hotel where you will be checked in. Lunch will be own arrangement.
Afternoon will be spent at leisure as you ease off the jet lag. You can opt for dinner at the hotel’s restaurant or at a restaurant of your choice as per the suggested list on own arrangement.
Overnight at hotel of choice.
Day 02: The Great Rift, The Panoramic landscapes, The serene cool waters of Lake Nakuru
Our driver guide will drive you to Lake Nakuru National Park- Nakuru City via the Maai Mahiu Road. A stopover at The Great Rift valley view point which provides the perfect sceneries and landscapes. Expect to be captivated by the breath-taking views of the land formations and all the physical features of the valley.
Lake Nakuru is a Ramsar Site with abundance of wildlife and species of exotic birds. The lake is a migratory lake for the lesser flamingos. It is inhibited by the euphorbia forests, acacia woodlands, savannah grasslands, and rocky escarpments giving a picturesque backdrop.
Check in a Lodge of your choice in time for lunch. Afternoon will be at leisure. An evening game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for the incredible wildlife that inhabits this National Park, including black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hippos. It is also a birders paradise, boasting of over 450 bird species to spot.
You will retreat back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 03: Untamed wilderness, Golden savannahs, rolling hills an ultimate Safari destination
Maasai Mara game reserve is a vast golden savannah, famous for the annual great migration of the wildebeests, it is also home and not limited to all members of “The Big Five” -Lion, Leopard, elephant, hippo and rhino. It has over 500 species of birds making it a haven for birds’ enthusiasts.
Checked in to a lodge of your choice in time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure.
Enjoy an evening game drive. Masai Mara being home to the big five, one may spot the elusive big cats including cheetahs, lions and especially be lucky to spot the elusive leopard. The bird watchers will also have an opportunity to see and name the various birds. Take time, soak and enjoy the memorable African sunset of the Mara as you head back to the lodge for your delicious dinner and overnight.
Day 04: A Symphony of wilderness, raw beauty and untamed majesty of the natural world
As the sun rises over the endless landscapes of the Mara, you will go out to explore the wonder that it holds. Spot the undisputed king of the Savannah lounge lazily in the shade, cheetahs’ epitome of speed stalk their prey and blending seamlessly into the golden grasslands. Elephants, the gentle giants silhouette the background.
The most awe-striking sight in the Mara is the great migration, its a phenomenon, a wonder of the world where millions of ungulates -wildebeests & zebras’ crossover the Mara River in search of pastures. The spectacle of the Mara carnivores as they hunt to their fill and the herbivores fighting for survival.
Amidst the drama, its the hush of the jungle wind, the golden sunsets painting the sky hues of orange and gold, its the reminder of fragility, the complexity of the cycle of life in this wilderness and beauty of our planet the memories and a sense of belonging that transcend words.
You will retreat back to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 05: It’s a wrap. We came, we saw, we carry memories and leave nothing else behind but our footprints
As you bid farewell to this timeless savannah, profound memories of the untamed wilderness, the orange hued sunrises and golden sunsets bring out a clear picture that Maasai Mara is more than just a destination; it is a living testament to the wonder and magnificence of the natural world.
You will be driven back to Nairobi.
